Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said that, if elected president, he would deport every illegal immigrant President Joe Biden has allowed to enter America on his watch.
DeSantis made the promise during a campaign event on Friday at the Los Angeles Harbor Grain Terminal in California.
“We have huge, huge problems because of the open southern border,” DeSantis said. He then how drug-running, human and sex trafficking, and influence and power of the Mexican drug cartels have all ramped up significantly under Biden.

“Joe Biden is basically derelict in the performance of his duties. … We have millions and millions of people pouring in. We don’t know who they are,” he added.
“As your president, we’re going to put a stop to it on day one,” DeSantis continued. “We’re gonna declare the border to be a national emergency. We’re gonna restore the sovereignty of this country. And we are going to lean in against the Mexican drug cartels who are responsible for killing tens of thousands of our fellow Americans through fentanyl overdoses.”
“We are going to restore law and order in this country,” said DeSantis.
DeSantis then made his deportation pledge in response to a reporter’s question.
“Everyone that has come illegally under Biden, they’re sending back,” he said. “That’s going to be the first priority. That’s probably 6 or 7 million people right there.”
DeSantis acknowledged that would be a big job.

“But if you don’t have a sanction for violating the law … you’re gonna continue to have it,” he added. “Last one in, first one out — and we’re really gonna push forward strongly on that.”
DeSantis also used the moment to criticize former President Donald Trump for failing to deliver on his own immigration promises in 2016.
Trump, he said, “is campaigning on the same promise he made in ’16 that he didn’t deliver on.”
“In fact, [former President Barack] Obama’s first term there were more deportations than under Trump’s term in office. Now he is saying he is going to do this great thing. He had four years and didn’t get the job done. We are going to get the job done.”
