Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ office responded to MAGA Inc’s request for a state ethics investigation on Wednesday.
The head of Make America Great Again Inc. (MAGA Inc.) requested Wednesday that the Florida Commission on Ethics investigate Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for several alleged law violations.
“Florida law has unique and unambiguous restrictions related to state officials accepting gifts, personally benefiting from outside income, and being influenced into making specific decisions,” said MAGA Inc. in a release. “After careful review, it is clear that Ron DeSantis has leveraged a shadow Presidential campaign to amass significant personal wealth and political capital in direct violation of state ethics laws, the spirit and the letter of the state’s resign-to-run law, and his commitment to America’s taxpayers.”

According to the letter, the alleged violations by Gov. Ron DeSantis include improperly soliciting and accepting gifts “with the understanding that he will run for president and resign as Governor of Florida.”
Governor DeSantis’ office responded by calling the request “frivolous” and “politically motivated.”
Governor DeSantis’ Communications Director, Taryn Fenske, responded saying, “Adding this to the list of frivolous and politically motivated attacks. It’s inappropriate to use state ethics complaints for partisan purposes.”

With DeSantis in Iowa Friday, former President Trump lashed out at on Truth Social, calling Florida’s Governor “Ron DeSanctimonious.”

“Remember FARMERS, I got China to pay you 28 Billion Dollars as an adjustment for how unfairly they treated you. This was part of the great Trade Deal I made for you with China (Biden is not properly enforcing it!). No other President could have done this. No other President was as PRO FARMER as me. Tell that to Ron DeSanctimonious when he shows up to your door, hat in hand. Tell him to go home!” Trump said.
