Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis needled former President Donald Trump on Tuesday, pledging to be the candidate who will actually deliver on his promises.

Appearing on Fox News with host Laura Ingraham, the governor cited several of Trump’s broken promises to the voters from 2016.

“He’s running in 2024 on a lot of the same promises he ran on in 2016 and didn’t deliver on,” said DeSantis. “He said he was going to drain the swamp. They didn’t drain the swamp at all. He still defends hiring [FBI Director] Christopher Wray. He didn’t fire Wray. He didn’t fire [Dr. Anthony] Fauci.”

“He said Mexico was going to pay for the border wall. That didn’t happen,” DeSantis continued. “They started the wall. We’ve got a lot more to be able to do to finish the wall.”

“He said he was going to eliminate the national debt. They added almost $8 trillion to the debt in four years. And then remember, he promised to appoint a special counsel for Hillary Clinton. Then after the election, he’s like ‘Oh, no. Forget about it. That’s what you say before the election. It’s not what you say after.’ So now he’s saying he’s going to do one for [President Joe] Biden, but he had promised to do that in 2016.”

“You’ve got to deliver on these things,” DeSantis added.

“If we do the same thing and we don’t deliver on 100%, we’re not going to turn the country around. Now is the time to deliver results,” DeSantis continued. “We’re in danger of leaving for our kids and grandkids an America that is less free and less prosperous than the one we inherited.”

DeSantis then compared his record in Florida to Trump’s in the White House.

“The time for talking is over,” said DeSantis.

Citing the increasing budget deficit and national debt and the chaos at the southern border, DeSantis noted, “These are issues Republicans have been talking about for decades — and yet they still persist.”

“I’m the only guy running that can say that everything I promised my voters, I delivered on 100% of the promises,” he added. “I will beat [President Joe] Biden, but even more importantly than that, I’m the guy that will deliver 100% of the results that we need to turn this country around.”
