The State Legislature on Monday formally sent five bills focused on criminal justice issues to Gov. Ron DeSantis. The bills were approved during the legislative session that ended March 8.
They include a measure (HB 549) that, in part, would seek to crack down on group “smash-and-grab” thefts.
Another bill (HB 1235) would make registration changes for sexual predators and sexual offenders, including changes related to reporting plans to move to other states.

In addition, one of the bills (HB 1545) would make it a third-degree felony for adults who engage “in a pattern of verbal or written communication to a minor that includes explicit and detailed verbal descriptions or narrative accounts of sexual activity, sexual conduct, or sexual excitement and that is harmful to minors.”
DeSantis is expected to sign each of these.
