Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis was not just a hit with GOP voters who watched last week’s presidential primary debate.
His winning performance in Milwaukee also resonated with conservative donors.
According to the Florida Standard, DeSantis’ campaign netted more than $1 million on the first day after the debate.
As the Tampa Free Press reported last week, a group of 775 voters surveyed by the pollster FiveThirtyEight.com before and after the event rated DeSantis the clear winner.

Overall, 29% of those respondents said DeSantis performed best, followed by businessman Vivek Ramaswamy at 26% and former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley with 15%.
DeSantis also overtook former President Donald Trump among those voters when asked whom they were considering voting for, claiming 67.5% to Trump’s 61.4%.
Voters who watched the debate also gave DeSantis the highest favorability rating, at 72.4%, among those who appeared alongside him at the event.
“Ron DeSantis showed Wednesday night that he is a proven leader who will deliver results as president, and we are thrilled with the flood of support we have received since his debate victory,” James Uthmeier, DeSantis’ campaign manager, told The Florida Standard.

“We look forward to building on this momentum in the weeks and months ahead as the governor continues to outwork everyone in this race as he lays out his vision to reverse our nation’s decline and revive the American Dream.”
DeSantis’ campaign had sputtered in recent weeks, forcing him to shake up his campaign team, including installing Uthleier as the new campaign manager.
ABC News, which also reported on DeSantis’ post-debate haul, noted, “The amount of money raised by the DeSantis campaign since the debate may indicate a sense of renewal among his supporters.”
