As the U.S. Supreme Court last week saved Americans from spending $400 billion they didn’t have by canceling President Joe Biden’s student-loan forgiveness scheme, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ team notes Biden’s spendthrift ways come in small packages as well.
On Saturday, DeSantis War Room, the Twitter account of the Republican governor’s rapid-response media team, highlighted a recent report that the Biden administration wanted to spend $12 million fighting climate change.
In Iraq.
DeSantis’ team posted a Washington Free Beacon article from last month that reported the State Department wanted “to teach Iraqis how to fight climate change and appreciate ‘gender diversity,’ an effort it says will help strengthen democracy in the Middle Eastern nation.”

That would be done, according to the Free Beacon, by sending $4 million each to three Iraqi universities, which would offer courses on “gender issues” and “the adaptation to and mitigation of the impacts of climate change.”
And, as might be expected from the Biden administration, the State Department emphasizes the need for “diversity, equity, and inclusion.” It tells potential recipients in Iraq that they must “focus on equity for ‘transgender and queer’ Iraqis.” the Free Beacon reported.
In response, DeSantis War Room posted, “While Americans struggle to get by, the Biden administration is spending $12 million to teach Iraqis how to fight climate change and appreciate ‘gender diversity.’”
