Florida Gov. DeSantis Allocates $122 Million To Boost Infrastructure In Small Counties, Rural Areas

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis today announced a significant investment of over $122 million to enhance infrastructure in small counties and rural communities throughout Florida.

The funding, provided by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), will be distributed through the Small County Outreach Program (SCOP) and the Small County Resurfacing Assistance Program (SCRAP) for the 2024-25 fiscal year.

Notably, a third of the funds will be directed towards communities impacted by hurricanes Idalia and Debby.

Governor DeSantis emphasized the unique challenges faced by rural areas and reaffirmed his commitment to providing them with the necessary resources. The investment is expected to not only upgrade infrastructure but also stimulate economic growth by attracting new businesses to these communities.

FDOT Secretary Jared W. Perdue highlighted the Department’s dedication to collaborating with local communities and expressed gratitude to Governor DeSantis and the Florida Legislature for their continued support.

Since 2019, FDOT has invested over $1.2 billion to assist counties with crucial infrastructure projects, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to strengthening Florida’s rural landscape.
