Florida GOP lawmakers have joined an effort by fellow Republicans to defund President Joe Biden’s left-wing immigration policies.

In a letter circulated among House Republicans on Monday, the lawmakers asked their colleagues what they were willing to do to stop the “unprecedented assault on the safety of Americans and the sovereignty of our nation due to the ‘open borders’ policies of radical progressive Democrats led by President Joe Biden.”

The letter was drafted by Reps. Bob Good of Virginia and Chip Roy of Texas.

‘How many more millions of illegal aliens must be released into America? How many more American lives must be lost at the hands of an illegal alien – like 22-year-old student Laken Riley? How much more power must we see given to China, terrorists, and cartels resulting in how many more deaths of Americans – including those poisoned by fentanyl?” they wrote.

“At some point, border security has to be more than something aspirational that we simply message on.”

“Is there a point at which we will refuse to let this happen on our watch, or is there no threshold of harm to our nation for which we would refuse to fund the government perpetrating the invasion?” the letter continued. “A ‘messaging bill’ will not solve the problem. Impeaching [Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro] Mayorkas will not solve the problem, even though it was important to do.”

The lawmakers further pointed out that the next government funding bill allocates money to “multiple avenues” that Biden seeks to exploit to release millions of illegals into America.

Having control over that funding grants Republicans power to check Biden’s abuses, they added, but only “if the House of Representatives exercises its constitutional duty.”

Unless Republicans get serious and stand firm, they will be accomplices in the worst immigration policies of Biden and congressional Democrats, including:

  • The mass release of millions of illegal aliens into the U.S. (on top of 4.5 million releases so far) and continuation of millions of “got-aways” (close to 2 million so far);
  • The release of illegal aliens with notices to appear in court as far out as 2035 and limited knowledge of their whereabouts once they enter;
  • Unlawful mass “parole” programs – via the “CBP One App” or otherwise – of over 1 million individuals, including the known member of a Venezuelan prison gang who violently murdered Laken Riley;
  • The dismantling of the Migrant Protection Protocols (aka “Remain in Mexico”) in favor of mass releases into the United States;
  • The general halt of border wall construction;
  • The legal attacks on states like Texas, which has spent over $12 billion of its own money attempting to do the job the federal government refuses to do to secure the border;
  • The DHS memos, policies, and rules that restrict Border Patrol’s ability to do its job and limit Immigration and Customs Enforcement interior enforcement and deportations;
  • The continued exploitation of unaccompanied minors, 85,000 of whom the HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement acknowledges they have lost contact;
  • Funding of NGOs actively facilitating the chain of human trafficking around the world in the false name of compassion;
  • Funding for the sanctuary cities that refuse to cooperate with immigration authorities;
  • Bringing the chaos in Haiti to America via the Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan (CHNV) parole program, by which a Haitian migrant was flown here to be granted parole and has been charged with the rape of a 15-year-old migrant in Massachusetts; and
  • Democrat-run state and local governments permitting noncitizens to vote.

“These policies are intentional and rooted in radical progressive Democrats’ desire to fundamentally remake America,” the lawmakers wrote. “A vote to fund this government without policy reforms is a vote for these policies.”

They noted that the bill will be layered with funding for the Defense Department, and many GOP lawmakers will cite that to justify a “yes” vote.

But that, too, is an opportunity.

They added, “The power of the purse should also be used to stop the radical politicization of the Department of Defense.”

“A vote for a funding bill that does not end President Biden’s most disastrous social-engineering policies is a vote for the abortion travel fund, taxpayer-funded gender transition surgeries, the ‘Chief Diversity Officers’ and so-called ‘Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’” offices destroying morale and recruiting, ‘climate’ policies undermining our war-fighting capabilities, and much more.”

“Therefore, we ask you to join us in rejecting the appropriations package (or anything similar) slated to be before the House that will directly fund these disastrous policies,” they concluded, “and choose instead to stand against this assault on the American people and use the power given to us by our founders.”

Forty-one Republicans joined Good and Roy in signing the letter. It was signed by Florida GOP Reps. Kat Cammack, Byron Donalds, Matt Gaetz, Anna Paulina Luna, Bill Posey, and Greg Steube.
