Rep. Matt Gaetz (FL-01) on Wednesday chastised fellow Republicans for not being more forceful in pursuing impeachment charges against President Joe Biden.
In an interview with Newsmax anchor Greg Kelly, the Fort Walton Beach Republican said, ‘We have bank records. We have flight logs. We have changes in administration policy. If we aren’t willing to impeach Joe Biden with the evidence we have, why were we even looking?”
“The question is whether or not Republicans will have the sufficient spine to do what is necessary,” Gaetz added.

Gaetz also lamented the “two-tiered justice system” that oversees these cases.
On one hand, left-wing prosecutors have filed 91 charges against Trump in four indictments in both state and federal courts.
Meanwhile, he added, “You’ve got a pile of evidence against Joe Biden strong enough to convict O.J. Simpson in South Central Los Angeles, and yet we’re sort of tepidly talking about maybe beginning an [impeachment] inquiry.”
Kelly then asked Gaetz about House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, and whether his job seemed to be in jeopardy, as Gaetz indicated recently.
Gaetz replied that the problem is that the House GOP leaders have not followed through on plans hatched in January that would hold McCarthy accountable to flouting conservatives.

So far, Gaetz added, there is an unwillingness to decouple all of the federal government’s spending bills so lawmakers could vote on each agency separately — and perhaps cut off funding for Democratic Special Counsel Jack Smith and his case, as well as the FBI and the Justice Department.
“We can do a lot better than this. We must do better than this. But it starts with the power of the purse, a power we have not yet used effectively,” said Gaetz.
