According to the latest data from the state Division of Elections, as of August 31, the Republican Party of Florida had a voter registration advantage of 1.026 million over the Florida Democratic Party.
The Republican Party had 5,385,554 active registered voters, compared to 4,359,354 for the Democrats. Additionally, 3,544,576 voters were registered without party affiliation, while 390,220 were aligned with third parties.

Historically, Democrats led in voter registration in Florida, but Republicans surpassed them in 2021 and have since expanded the gap.
The GOP currently holds all statewide offices and dominates both the Florida Legislature and the state’s congressional delegation. However, Democrats argue that the registration numbers are misleading, as they do not account for “inactive” voters, who are still eligible to vote.
