Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz once again suggested that funding for public broadcasting may be on the table for government aid that sponsors the anti-white, anti-Semitic leader of the Nation of Islam, Louis Farrakhan.
In a letter on Wednesday to Patricia de Stacy Harrison, president and CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and John Lansing, National Public Radio’s president and CEO, noted that WEAA 88.9 FM, a public radio station managed by Morgan State University, an historically black university in Baltimore, airs a program called “Final Call” each Sunday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
“Final Call,” the Fort Walton Beach Republican wrote, is the official radio broadcast of Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam, which Gaetz described as a “black supremacist, pseudo historical cult.”

“Americans would be shocked to learn that black supremacy, ethnic extremism, or historical revisionism of any kind, especially of this magnitude, is being funded by their tax dollars,” Gaetz added.
“Sadly, if they accessed WEAA 88.9’s website, they would see that the station received $251,815 in taxpayer funds through the congressionally authorized Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) in 2021.”
“Nearly the entirety of CPB’s and NPR’s budgets are derived from congressional appropriations,” continued Gaetz.
Therefore, he said, “for the purposes of evaluating the continued funding and existence of both CPB and NPR,” he wanted their leaders to explain how much taxpayer support WEAA was allocated by CPB in 2022 and 2023.
Gaetz also demanded that Harrison and Lansing explain the vetting processes they use “to ensure taxpayer funds are not being allocated to organizations that platform extremist content,” or that go toward “organizations that platform pseudo historical and historically revisionist content.”

Finally, Gaetz sought to know “what other hate groups do CPB and/or NPR fund with taxpayer dollars.”
He gave the pair until Sept. 22 to reply.
This is at least the second time this year Gaetz has hounded CPB and NPR for funding Farrakhan’s organization by sponsoring WEAA.
As the Tampa Free Press reported in May, Gaetz raised the same issue.
At the time, he told the Daily Caller, “[President] Joe Biden says white supremacy is the nation’s greatest threat, but his administration is busy subsidizing the broadcast of Nation of Islam propaganda.”
“Taxpayers should not be supporting Louis Farrakhan’s hateful rhetoric. I’m calling to halt any and all taxpayer funding to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting until WEAA stops airing Final Call Radio.”

Even left-wing groups, such as the Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center, have denounced Farrakhan for his rhetoric.
The ADL notes on its website, “For more than 30 years, Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam (NOI), has been a notable extremist figure, railing against Jews, white people and the LGBT community.”
