On Tuesday evening, Florida Fish and Wildlife staff rescued a manatee using their brand-new transport truck.

Officials say the 10ft male manatee weighed in at 1025 lbs. and was rescued in Marathon due to a watercraft injury. The manatee was transported to SeaWorld Orlando for rehabilitation.

“Rescuing manatees remains a top priority for FWC and this new truck helps to support this important conservation work,” said the FWC in a statement.

How you can help: Report injured, sick or dead manatees to the FWC Wildlife Alert Hotline: 888-404-3922.

Florida residents can show their appreciation for manatees by purchasing a Save the Manatee license plate https://myfwc.com/research/manatee/trust-fund/license-plate/

The new rescue truck was donated by Florida Power & Light with graphic wrap donated by the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida and Ferman Commercial Division.
