A 25-year-old Melbourne man, Edrick Lamar Davis, is facing first-degree felony murder and aggravated child abuse charges after admitting to killing his six-week-old son.
The tragic incident occurred on June 10th, according to Fox35, when emergency services responded to reports of an infant not breathing at the family residence.
According to investigators, the baby’s mother was in the shower when the incident occurred.
Davis initially denied any knowledge of how the infant sustained a fatal brain injury.

However, after an autopsy confirmed foul play, Davis reportedly confessed to hitting the baby in a moment of stress caused by the crying.
Police affidavits detail Davis admitting to kneeing the infant in the back of the head at least twice because of the fussiness.
Davis was arrested on Wednesday and is currently being held without bond.
