As wildfires rage across Southern California, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has announced that the state is ready to provide assistance in the firefighting and recovery efforts.

“Our prayers are with everyone affected by the horrific fires in Southern California. When disaster strikes, we must come together to help our fellow Americans in any way we can,” DeSantis said on X. “The state of Florida has offered help to assist the people of California in responding to these fires and in rebuilding communities that have been devastated.”

The Florida Division of Emergency Management is preparing to deploy resources to California, including an incident management team, logistics support workers, and equipment. This comes as multiple fires are burning in the Los Angeles area, fueled by powerful Santa Ana winds and dry conditions.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection reports that four separate fires are currently burning in the Los Angeles area, scorching over 5,700 acres and forcing widespread evacuations.

Florida’s offer of assistance highlights the spirit of interstate cooperation during emergencies. While Florida is no stranger to natural disasters, particularly hurricanes, the state recognizes the need to support other regions facing crises.
