Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints Five To The Board Of Professional Engineers

Governor Ron DeSantis announced Friday the appointment of Brock Shrader and the reappointment of James Gonzalez, John Pistorino, Denise Ramsey, and Pankaj “P.J.” Shah to the Board of Professional Engineers.

The board oversees the regulation and licensing of engineers in Florida, ensuring high standards of professional conduct and practice.

Brock Shrader

Brock Shrader, of Orlando, serves as the President of Wilson & Girgenti, P.A., a firm recognized as one of Florida Trend’s Best Companies to Work For in both 2022 and 2023. Shrader earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a juris doctor from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.

James Gonzalez

James Gonzalez, of Jacksonville, is Co-Founder of Cobb & Gonzalez, P.A. He also serves as a reservist in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corps, having been commissioned in 2015. Gonzalez is active in the Florida Bar, where he serves as Licensing Co-Chair of the Real Property and Construction Law Section, and was named a 2023 Florida Super Lawyer by the Jacksonville Business Journal. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of South Florida and both a master’s degree and juris doctor from Villanova University.

John Pistorino

John Pistorino, of Pinecrest, is the President of Pistorino & Alam Consulting Engineers, Inc. He is actively involved with several professional organizations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Concrete Institute, the Florida Structural Engineers Association, and the Florida Engineering Society. Pistorino earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Florida and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Miami.

Denise Ramsey

Denise Ramsey, of Jacksonville, serves as Vice President and Chief Engineer for Haskell Architects & Engineers. She has previously chaired the Design-Build Institute of America and remains an active member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers. Ramsey earned her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of South Florida and a master’s degree in business administration from Jacksonville University.

Pankaj “P.J.” Shah

Pankaj “P.J.” Shah, of Clearwater, is the President and CEO of Cumbey & Fair, Inc. An active community leader, he is a member of the Florida Engineering Society and the Countryside Rotary Club. Shah earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Baroda and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Oklahoma.

These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
