Florida Democrat Crist Couldn’t Make Political Hay With Jesus Comparison, So He Goes For The GOAT

Well, if Jesus didn’t work, how about the GOAT?

That seems to be the thinking of beleaguered Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist.

Crist, according to the conservative sports website Outkick.com, compared himself to Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady at a campaign stop.

The event was in June, but the video had Crist trending on Twitter on Monday.

“I got elected to represent Tampa Bay in 2016,” the former Republican governor called. “I had not won an election in 10 years.”

“It was just like, y’know, Tom Brady. He hadn’t won a Super Bowl in 10 years,” Crist continued. “But if you don’t give up, if you stick with it if you do what you know is right, and you believe in God, you stay on the field. Especially if you think you can do it.”

“I almost would’ve felt guilty not running for governor this time around; I’ll tell you why,” Crist added. “I know I have all this name ID because I’ve run statewide six times.”

Crist, of course, failed to note that when he did run statewide, it was either as a Republican or an independent.

When he won, again statewide, it was as a Republican and at a time when the GOP was ascendant and tightening its grip on power in Tallahassee — and when Crist’s ideas were vastly different from the wokeism he now spouts.

Crist juxtaposing himself to Brady, a Hall of Famer in waiting, actually occurred before he likened himself to Jesus.

The Free Press reported last month that at a campaign event Crist told his audience the election was “about being decent to one another, about being kind to everyone — it’s called a ‘Florida for all. You know we’ve got a divider on the other side, and a uniter over here.”

The self-proclaimed uniter then immediately referred to DeSantis as “DeSatan.”

“‘DeSatan’ vs. that,” he continued while pointing to his own name on a campaign poster affixed to the wall behind him.

When someone in the crowd uttered “Christ,” a play on the left-wing former governor’s name, Crist replied, “Think about it — boom,” he said.

“There’s no question about it. The choice is crystal clear,” Crist added. “He’s bad, we’re good.”

Florida voters as of the moment tend to disagree.

As The Free Press reported on Monday, the incumbent Republican leads Crist by 8 points in one survey that averages recent polls, and DeSantis’ favorability rating is not at plus-7, while Crist is minus-5.
