The number of Florida hospital inpatients with COVID-19 has dropped below 2,700 after a surge in December and January because of the highly contagious omicron variant of the coronavirus.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reported Wednesday that 2,663 Florida inpatients had COVID-19.
As a comparison, 8,798 inpatients had COVID-19 on Feb. 1. The new data also showed that 431 COVID-19 patients were in intensive-care units. On Feb. 1, that number was 1,319.
