The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reported Thursday that 3,105 Florida hospital inpatients had COVID-19, continuing a steady increase in recent weeks.

The Thursday total was up from 3,078 in a Wednesday count and was up nearly 11 percent over the past week. Also, the data showed that 281 patients with COVID-19 were in intensive-care units, up from 259 on Wednesday.

Florida recently has seen weekly increases in reported COVID-19 cases, though the numbers remain lower than early in the year, when the highly contagious omicron variant of the coronavirus hit the state.
