The Democratic Party continues to be a place where people can fail upward.
As The Free Press reported, on Saturday, the Florida Democratic Party announced that former Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried was its new chairwoman.
Fried replaces former chairman Manny Diaz who resigned in January after Democrats received a historic smackdown in November’s elections.
That included incumbent Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis winning 62 of 67 counties, including liberal strongholds like Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties, while beating challenger Charlie Crist by 20 points, as well as the GOP securing supermajorities in both the state House and Senate.

Crist was available to take that thrashing from DeSantis because he had crushed Fried in the Democratic primary. Crist thumped Fried, who had been narrowly elected state agriculture commissioner in 2018, by 24 points.
As Florida Democrats elevated Fried, a radical left-winger who was previously a marijuana industry lobbyist, to her new post, one of the first to congratulate her was Christina Pushaw, DeSantis’ 2022 campaign spokeswoman.
“Aww congrats Nikki!” Pushaw tweeted, along with a map showing all 67 Florida counties turning red.
As compiled by the conservative website Twitchy.com, other conservatives on Twitter joined Pushaw in greeting the new leader of Florida’s Democrats.

“You just solidified Florida as a red state for the next decade,” one Twitter user said.
“Complete and unconditional surrender by the Florida Democratic Party,” said another.
One included a gif from “The Simpsons” of the character Sideshow Bob stepping on a garden rake, while another added, “Congratulations to the Republican party of Florida!”
“No better person to lead the Democrats in Florida than the person who lost by thirty points to the guy who lost by twenty,” said another.
Finally, one more noted, “Every news source in the world ‘How much worse can it get for Democrats in Florida’ Nikki Fried – ‘Hold my beer!’”
