Florida residents in two congressional districts are approaching a critical deadline to register for special primary elections on January 28.

These elections will fill seats in Congressional Districts 1 and 6, following the resignation of former U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz and the appointment of U.S. Rep. Mike Waltz as President-elect Donald Trump’s national security adviser.

Congressional District 1, a Republican stronghold encompassing all or parts of Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton counties, has drawn significant attention.

Ten Republicans, one Democrat, and one unaffiliated candidate are vying for the seat.

Congressional District 6, covering parts of Flagler, Lake, Marion, Putnam, St. Johns, and Volusia counties, presents a more competitive landscape with candidates from multiple parties.
