Florida Cold Case: James William Earl, Afghanistan Veteran Murdered 2019

The murder of 32-year-old James William Earl remains unsolved, and his family and friends need your help in bringing the person or persons responsible for his death to justice.

On January 16, 2019, at approximately 6:52 a.m., Pasco Fire Rescue received a medical call at the residence of 14838 Glenrock Road in Spring Hill. 

It was determined that the male victim sustained a gunshot wound and was found deceased in the driveway of his residence.

Police say that his fiance found his body and the man was identified as James William Earl, 32.

James served two tours in Afghanistan as a Navy Corpsman attached to the U.S. Marines.

He was a graduate of Southeastern Univerity with an Associates Degree in Nursing and was just months away from graduating from the Aviation Academy when he was murdered.

James left behind a daughter, brother, mother, and countless friends.

James’ Mother, Tina Laney, spoke with The Free Press on Sunday and pleaded for someone to come forward with the names of those responsible for the death of her son.

“I miss him so much,” said Tina. I have no closure. His daughter, who lives out of state, will never know her dad. The person who did this has broken me and my family.”

Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the unknown suspect(s) involved in the Homicide of James William Earl. 

The family is offering an additional $7,000 reward on top of another $5,000 reward from the Florida Sheriff’s Association.

A total of $15,000 in reward money is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the responsible person(s).

Anyone with any information regarding the identity of the suspect(s) and who wants to be eligible for a cash reward is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477), report anonymously online at www.crimestopperstb.com, or send a mobile tip using the P3 Tips Mobile application.
