Florida Bookkeeper Arrested After Stealing Over $200,000 From Employer

A Florida woman has been arrested and charged with grand theft for allegedly stealing over $200,000 from her employer, a farm machinery business in the Panhandle.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested Gail Yvonne Young, 59, of Altha, on January 31, 2025. The arrest followed an investigation that began in December 2024 when the business owners reported suspected fraud.

Young, who worked as the company’s bookkeeper, was responsible for payroll, accounts receivable, and inventory. An audit revealed unauthorized payments she made to herself, totaling over $202,700 in addition to her regular salary.

Young was booked into the Jackson County Jail. The Office of the State Attorney, 14th Judicial Circuit, will prosecute the case.

The investigation was conducted by the FDLE Panama City Field Office with assistance from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
