The state’s Citizens Property Insurance Corp. had fewer than 2,400 claims from Hurricane Idalia as of Tuesday.
President and CEO Tim Cerio told the Citizens Board of Governors during a meeting Wednesday in Tallahassee that Citizens had received 2,384 claims, with most in Taylor, Pinellas, and Pasco counties.
Cerio said about 49 percent of the claims had been closed. As of Monday, the state Office of Insurance Regulation reported that a total of 21,525 claims, including 14,789 involving residential property, had been reported from Idalia.

The Category 3 storm made landfall Aug. 30 in the Keaton Beach area of Taylor County after moving north through the Gulf of Mexico.
It crossed parts of North Florida into Georgia. Citizens had 1.399 million policies statewide as of Friday.
