Florida Aquarium Announces Party For The Planet With 50 Days Of Conservation

TAMPA, FL. As the world celebrates Earth Day, The Florida Aquarium is joining fellow Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) accredited facilities in launching Party for the Planet with 50 Days of Conservation.

The 50 days will include environmental stewardship activities along with educational and conservation programs stretching from Earth Day (April 22) through Endangered Species Day (May 21) to World Oceans Day (June 8).

“Our goal is to inspire people to spend time learning about how we can protect and restore our Blue Planet. To celebrate Earth’s tremendous biodiversity on a daily basis and to affect change in a very positive way,” said The Florida Aquarium President and CEO Roger Germann.

Several of the scheduled Party for the Planet events will focus on two of The Aquarium’s top conservation priorities – habitat restoration and the reduction of single-use plastics. Other events will center on creating native pollinator gardens, mangrove restoration, litter reduction and environmental stewardship.

Thanks to tremendous support from friends of The Florida Aquarium, the cleanup and habitat restoration events are already reached maximum capacity. Registration remains open for a number of activities including The TradeWinds Island Grand cleanup (June 5) in St. Petersburg.

Families are encouraged to participate in self-guided acts of conservation by registering to receive Pollinator and Protect our Blue Planet conservation action packs. A list of all Party for the Planet events and activities can be found on The Florida Aquarium website here or on The Aquarium’s Facebook page by clicking here.
