Floridians Protecting Freedom, the political committee leading the effort to pass a constitutional amendment on abortion rights, raised just over $987,000 between August 16 and August 23, according to a recently filed finance report.

Of that amount, $700,000 came from Planned Parenthood of South, East, and North Florida. Since its formation last year, the committee has raised a total of $47.99 million and spent approximately $24.38 million as of August 23.

The committee is working to pass what will be listed as Amendment 4 on the November ballot.

The proposal states that no law shall “prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider.”
