A political organization driving efforts to approve a ballot issue to enshrine abortion rights in the Florida Constitution raised $2.245 million in the first three months of the year, according to a newly filed finance report.
The report, which was uploaded on the state Division of Elections website, also revealed that the Floridians Protecting Freedom committee earned $436,219 in in-kind contributions during that time period.
The report covers financial activity until March 31.

On April 1, the Florida Supreme Court approved placing the proposed constitutional amendment on the November ballot, paving the way for a tremendous political struggle in the coming months.
According to the report, large contributors to the committee during the three-month period included Jacksonville retiree Delores Weaver, who contributed $530,000, Fort Lauderdale investment adviser Donald Sussman, who contributed $500,000, and the California-based Tides Foundation, which contributed $260,000. Since its inception last year,
Floridians Protecting Freedom has raised about $17.92 million and received approximately $2.06 million in in-kind contributions.
It had spent $17.84 million, with the majority of the money going toward petition gathering and verification activities.
