Flaming Fury In Florida Keys: Dominoes Dispute Sparks Arson Attempt

MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 38-year-old Marathon man is behind bars after allegedly attempting to set multiple vehicles on fire during an argument that erupted Wednesday night.

Rainel Arbolay Becerra was arrested and charged with attempted arson, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a call on Lindahl Street at approximately 10:50 p.m. following reports of a heated dispute that reportedly began during a game of dominoes.

Investigators say Arbolay Becerra became enraged and pushed two vehicles close together. He then allegedly shoved a piece of a T-shirt into the gas tank of one of the vehicles and threatened to ignite them.

Authorities confirmed that Arbolay Becerra was in possession of several lighters at the time of the incident and reportedly admitted to his actions. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.

Arbolay Becerra was taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County Detention Center.
