CLEARWATER, Fla. – A fire erupted at Fairwinds Treatment Center on South Fort Harrison Avenue early this morning, drawing a massive response from local fire departments. The three-alarm fire broke out shortly after 5:00 AM at the facility located at 1569 S. Fort Harrison Ave.

According to officials, 17 residents and five staff members present at the time of the incident were able to evacuate the premises without injury. Firefighters arriving on the scene also reported no injuries.

The scale of the blaze drew a multi-agency response, with over 20 units from Clearwater Fire & Rescue and neighboring departments, including Dunedin, Safety Harbor, Largo, and Seminole, responding on the scene to combat the flames.

Fire inspectors from Clearwater Fire & Rescue are on the scene to determine the cause of the blaze. The state fire marshal’s office will also be involved in the investigation.

South Fort Harrison Avenue was closed between Belleair Road and Woodlawn Avenue, but has since reopened.
