TAMPA, Fla. – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue was on the scene of a two-alarm fire at 9202 Anderson Road in Tampa.
The dispatch center received 911 calls at 10:52 P.M. Saturday night from individuals reporting fire rapidly growing on the giant tiki hut attached to the Mamajuana Cafe.
Responding crews could see the giant blaze from the Veterans Expressway. The first arriving unit was met with a large fire involving the tiki hut and called a second alarm.
Firefighters battled the blaze using handlines and set up aerial operations to suppress the fire, which they accomplished in 25 minutes.
Occupants were able to evacuate the area safely, and there were no injuries to first responders or civilians. Our fire investigations unit is currently working to determine the cause.
