TAMPA, Fla. – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue fought a residential structure fire early Thursday afternoon.

HCFR’s dispatch center received a 911 call from an individual next door to 2702 North 66th Street, reporting visible flames and smoke from what he believed to be an abandoned house.

HCFR’s Engine 32 was the first engine on the scene, reporting a fully involved structure. They deployed a handline for an aggressive interior attack to begin battling the blaze.

Additional crews arrived on the scene and established a water supply from a nearby hydrant, conducted searches of the house to confirm there were no occupants and pulled additional handlines to help fight the fire.

It took crews 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze. There were no injuries to civilians or first responders. HCFR’s Fire Investigations Unit is on the scene investigating the cause.
