RUSKIN, Fla. – Hillsborough County residents impacted by recent hurricanes now have a local resource to help them navigate the process of applying for federal aid.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has opened a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the Southshore Regional Service Center in Ruskin. The center will be open from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, December 2nd. Starting tomorrow, the DRC will operate Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The DRC offers a range of services to help residents with disaster assistance, including:

  • Applying for federal aid
  • Updating existing applications
  • Learning about disaster loans and other resources
  • Submitting supporting documents
  • Appealing denial letters or case closures
  • Requesting additional funds

The center is open to all residents and applicable non-profits, regardless of their county of residence.

Multiple Ways to Apply for Aid

While the DRC offers valuable in-person assistance, residents can also apply for FEMA assistance online at DisasterAssistance.gov, through the FEMA app, or by phone at (800) 621-3362.

This new Disaster Recovery Center provides a vital resource for Hillsborough County residents as they continue to recover and rebuild from the recent hurricanes.
