HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla.- Residents of Hillsborough County who were impacted by Hurricane Milton can now seek financial relief through FEMA. The federal agency offers various programs to help individuals and communities recover from the storm’s devastation.

One of the key programs is Individual Assistance, which provides financial and direct services to eligible individuals and households. This assistance can cover temporary housing, home repairs, and other essential needs.

Another program is Public Assistance, aimed at helping local governments and certain private non-profits with emergency work and the repair or replacement of damaged facilities.

Additionally, the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program offers funding for actions that prevent or reduce long-term risks from natural hazards.

To qualify for Individual Assistance, residents must have uninsured or underinsured necessary expenses and serious needs resulting from the hurricane. It’s important to note that FEMA assistance is not a replacement for insurance and may not cover all losses.

Those who qualify can receive assistance with various needs, including temporary housing, home repairs, temporary housing units, hazard mitigation, and other disaster-caused expenses.

Residents can apply for FEMA assistance online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling the FEMA Helpline at (800) 621-3362. The helpline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
