FBI: Sumter County Man Arrested On “Obscene Visual” Representations Of Child Crimes

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A Lake Panasoffkee man has been arrested on federal charges of possessing obscene visual representations of child sexual abuse, according to the Department of Justice.

United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announced the arrest of 30-year-old Corey Wilkerson on Friday, January 31st. If convicted, Wilkerson faces up to 20 years in federal prison.

According to the indictment, between October 2023 and July 2024, Wilkerson possessed animated images depicting the sexual abuse of infants and young girls.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the case. Assistant United States Attorney Hannah Nowalk Watson is prosecuting.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
