The FBI Washington Field Office is seeking information about the kidnapping and presumed death of Cydney Mizell.
Cydney Mizell was an American non-governmental organization worker who has been missing since January 2008. Mizell was abducted, along with her driver, by unidentified gunmen from Kandahar City, Afghanistan.
The FBI has concluded that Mizell was likely killed by her captors in 2008 and her remains may have been buried in the Kandahar area. Mizell spoke fluent Pashto after living and working in Kandahar for three years empowering Afghan women and children.
“The Mizell family deserves answers about their beloved sister, aunt, and daughter and what happened more than a decade ago,” said Matthew R. Alcoke, special agent in charge of the FBI Washington Field Office, Counterterrorism and Incident Management Division. “The FBI is dedicated to exhausting all options to further our investigation and work to bring those answers to her family.”
The FBI is seeking information from the public to help locate Cydney and bring her home, as well as identify those responsible for her kidnapping.
If you have any information concerning the kidnapping of Cydney Mizell, please contact the FBI at tips.fbi.gov or call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (225-5324). You can also contact your local FBI field office or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate.
