Fatal Rear-End Crash Claims Life Of 78-Year-Old In Brooksville

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – A 78-year-old man tragically lost his life in a rear-end collision on State Road 50 in Brooksville Monday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 2:20 p.m. at the intersection of SR-50 and South Main Street. The victim, a Brooksville resident, was stopped at a red light in his GMC Sierra pickup truck when his vehicle was struck from behind by a Ford F-150 driven by a 36-year-old Brooksville man.

According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of the Ford F-150 failed to stop, causing the fatal collision. The impact propelled the victim’s truck into a nearby fence.

Emergency responders transported the 78-year-old to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. No further details have been released at this time.
