SARASOTA, Fla. – A fire at a Sarasota hotel has claimed the life of one man and prompted an investigation by authorities.
The Sarasota Police Department responded to a fire at the Baymont by Wyndham on South Tamiami Trail around 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4th.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male injured in one of the hotel rooms. The man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office has taken the lead in the investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased man, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.
