SARASOTA, FL – A fatal single-vehicle crash has closed a portion of Lockwood Ridge Road in Sarasota County this evening.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) with the investigation. The crash occurred around 5:45 p.m. on southbound Lockwood Ridge Road in unincorporated Sarasota. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Southbound Lockwood Ridge Road is currently closed between University Parkway and 47th Street while FHP conducts its investigation. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes.
