PINELLAS PARK, Fla. – A 73-year-old Largo man died after being struck by a truck while crossing a street in Pinellas Park early Monday morning.
The Pinellas Park Police Department responded to an accident involving a truck and a pedestrian at the intersection of 66th Street N and 78th Avenue N at approximately 6:25 AM.
The pedestrian, identified as Jeffrey Young, was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced deceased.

The investigation revealed that a Nissan Titan truck, driven by 38-year-old Glenn Hogue of Pinellas Park, was traveling north on 66th Street N in the curb lane, approaching 78th Avenue N.
At the same time, Jeffrey Young, who was in a wheelchair, was crossing 66th Street N in the crosswalk against the traffic signal. The truck struck Young while he was in the roadway.
Authorities determined that the traffic lights for northbound and southbound 66th Street N were green at the time of the incident, and that Jeffrey Young was crossing against the signal.
Glenn Hogue remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The Pinellas Park Police Department is reminding all pedestrians to use crosswalks appropriately and to wear reflective or high-visibility clothing when crossing intersections, especially during early morning hours with limited daylight.
