HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – During Hurricane Helene in Florida Thursday, a tragic incident occurred on Interstate 4 around 7:49 pm.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a freeway sign fell onto a Honda Odyssey traveling westbound, resulting in the death of a 23-year-old Gibsonton man who was a passenger in the vehicle.

The driver, a 61-year-old man from Gibsonton, and the other two passengers, a 44-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, were unharmed, troopers say.
