The backyard. It’s coming into Spring 2024, and deciding new ways to get both kids and parents to ditch their smartphones and enjoy family time outside is upon us.
Surveys indicate that parents realize they spend more time on their cell phones than they do with their children. In fact, according to Movieguide.org, a OnePoll survey found that parents spend an average of five hours a day on their phones and less than four hours a day with their children.
The poll continued to determine that, “…More than half of U.S. parents (60%) are seeking ways to escape technology and reconnect with their kids. With nearly eight in 10 (79%) of parents claiming their experiences with their children are more memorable without the presence of electronic devices, it’s no surprise that most (52%) parents have attempted to limit technology usage within their households.”

Tampa Free Press checked around for a really respectable idea to engage both parents and children into the same activity to create more bonding time and generate those memorable experiences.
One solution was found by searching the latest and greatest in back yard swing sets – a kid recreation that usually elicits a “Go out and play!” routine from Mom or Dad while they fiddle on their phones or complete a chore.
Not so with an expansive swing set manufactured by Swingsesh that’s called a fitness playset. As the company’s signature model, it incorporates adult exercise with kid exercise and play, using sustainable materials and the flexibility to adapt to different yards as the family grows or relocates.
Swingsesh has been presented several awards, among them Good Housekeeping’s 2022 Parenting Award for the category, “Best in Premium Play Picks.” The company also received a Gold Award from Better Future New York Design Awards.
According to betterfutureawards.com’s website, “SwingSesh is the only backyard playset on the market designed to engage the whole family by combining fitness features with play equipment. In addition to all the features kids love like swings, a slide, monkey bars, climbing ladder, and play deck, the SwingSesh also has strength and conditioning equipment like dip bars, pull-up bars, box jumps, a squat rack, and even the option to add a 15-ft climbing rope!”
According to Swingsesh.com, another feature of their fitness playset is safe-to-touch bars, even in summer. Its American-made steel construction is wrapped in UV-resistant, water-resistant plastic, which means you don’t need to paint or stain it every few years like swing sets made of wood construction.
