The alert indicated that a man had killed his ex-wife and girlfriend and had abducted his 1-year-old son.

The suspect was identified as 39-year-old Elias Huizar, a former police officer. The community was on high alert as authorities warned that Huizar was armed, dangerous, and “on the run.”

The search for Huizar intensified as law enforcement agencies across the region joined forces to locate the suspect and rescue the abducted child. The pursuit led to a highway standoff in Oregon, where Huizar ultimately met his tragic end.

After crashing his vehicle and exchanging gunfire with officers, Huizar shot himself in the head. The standoff came to a devastating conclusion, leaving many questions unanswered.

His 1-year-old son, Roman Santos, was found unharmed in the back seat of Huizar’s vehicle.

Oregon State Police Captain Kyle Kennedy confirmed that the child was safely taken into police custody.

“The recovery of the abducted child brings some measure of relief, but it cannot erase the pain and trauma inflicted on the victims’ families,” said Captain Kyle Kennedy.

As the investigation unfolded, authorities revealed the first victim in this horrifying case. A woman was found dead outside William Wiley Elementary School in West Richland, Washington.

The exact circumstances surrounding her death have not been disclosed, leaving the community in shock and mourning the loss of an innocent life.

While serving a search warrant at Huizar’s residence, law enforcement officers made a chilling discovery. A second woman’s body was found, providing further evidence of the suspect’s violent actions. The details surrounding the second victim’s death, including the cause and time of death, have not been released, leaving investigators with a complex puzzle to solve.

Elias Huizar’s journey from a police officer to a suspect in a double murder case has left many questioning his character and motivations. Huizar was a former police officer with the Yakima Police Department, located about 70 miles northwest of the crime scene.

According to the department’s spokesperson, Yvette Inzunza, Huizar joined the force in 2013 but resigned in February 2022 after receiving disciplinary action.
