An Ethiopian national was sentenced Friday to 12 years in federal prison for the armed robbery of a local supermarket in Mississippi.
Milki Ibrahim received the sentence after previously pleading guilty in December 2024 to the charge.
According to court documents and statements made in court, the armed robbery occurred on February 23, 2024. Ibrahim entered the supermarket, brandished a black handgun, and threatened employees, stating, “Give me the money or I will shoot y’all right now.”

The employee behind the cash register complied and gave Ibrahim $1200. Ibrahim further threatened to return and harm the people in the store if they reported the incident to the police.
Employees of the store were able to positively identify Ibrahim as the perpetrator. The subsequent investigation uncovered significant evidence linking Ibrahim to the crime. A review of Ibrahim’s cellphone revealed photographs taken just one day prior to the robbery showing him wearing the same clothing worn during the offense. Investigators later located these same clothes at the defendant’s residence, along with a firearm that matched the description of the weapon used in the robbery.
