POLK COUNTY, Fla. – An 84-year-old man tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle collision in Davenport on Sunday morning.
The crash occurred around 8:33 a.m. at the intersection of US 27 and Poitras Road Two in the Four Corners area. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, a 2021 Ford EcoSport SUV driven by the 84-year-old was attempting to turn left onto Poitras Road Two when it crossed into the path of an oncoming 2018 Mazda sedan.

The impact of the collision caused the driver of the Ford to suffer blunt force trauma and internal injuries. He was airlifted to a hospital in Osceola County but sadly passed away during emergency surgery.
The 27-year-old male driver of the Mazda was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Both drivers were reportedly wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The southbound lanes of US 27 were closed for approximately three and a half hours while deputies investigated the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
