Eastbound I-4 Ramps At Wheeler Street In Tampa To Close For Weekend Paving Project

TAMPA, Fla. – Starting Friday, August 2nd at 9 p.m., the eastbound Interstate 4 entrance and exit ramps at Wheeler Street (State Road 39A) will be closed for repaving. The closure is expected to last until 5 a.m. on Monday, August 5th, weather permitting.

Detours:

  • Exiting I-4 eastbound to Wheeler Street: Take Exit 21, head north on Alexander Street, then east on Sam Allen Road. Turn south onto Paul Buchman Highway, which will lead to Wheeler Street.
  • Entering I-4 eastbound from Wheeler Street: Head east on South Frontage Road, continue east to Park Road, turn north, and follow the signs to the eastbound I-4 entrance ramp.

Electronic message boards and signs will guide drivers through the detours. Motorists are advised to exercise caution in the work zone and be aware of construction crews.

This closure is part of an ongoing I-4 repaving project between McIntosh Road and County Line Road in Hillsborough County.
