CLEARWATER, Fla. – A vacant building in Clearwater sustained significant damage early this morning after a driver, suspected of driving under the influence, crashed his car into it.

Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to the incident at approximately 3:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Court Street.

The driver, identified as William Cummins of Clearwater, was taken to Morton Plant Hospital for evaluation before being booked into the Pinellas County Jail. He faces a charge of DUI with property damage.

The crash caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to the vacant building.
