POLK COUNTY, Fla. – An Eagle Lake man lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on US 17 near Bartow on Saturday night, August 3rd. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

22-year-old Aaron Angel Delgado was driving his black 2008 Ford F150 southbound at high speed when he lost control, causing the truck to roll multiple times. He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene due to head trauma. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Witnesses reported seeing Delgado making rapid lane changes before the crash. Investigators believe wet roads and low tire tread depth may have contributed to the accident.

The southbound lanes of US 17 were closed for approximately three hours while deputies investigated the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
