Eagle Lake Man Arrested After Struggle With Polk County Deputies

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 29-year-old Eagle Lake man was arrested Wednesday evening after a confrontation with Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

At approximately 9:22 p.m. on February 5th, a deputy observed Henry Austin Allen walking in the area of Cooley Road and Fruitland Park Circle, wearing a black, full-face mask.

During the encounter, the deputy noticed an object under Allen’s waistband and inquired about it. Allen claimed it was a sports cup. However, upon further inspection, it was revealed to be a handgun.

When the deputy instructed Allen to keep his hands away from the weapon, Allen became defensive and pushed the deputy. A struggle ensued, during which the gun fell to the ground. Allen attempted to flee but was apprehended by deputies after a brief struggle.

Allen was arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail. He was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting with violence, resisting without violence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
