TAMPA, Fla. – A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an altercation at a Tampa Dunkin Donuts, that led to a man dying.
Police say that on May 5th, at approximately 1:29 p.m., the victim, a 77-year-old man, went through the drive-thru of Dunkin’ Donuts and became upset due to the lack of service he was receiving.
The man was asked to leave by employees and that he would not be served.
The victim parked his vehicle and entered the business. Police say the man continued arguing with the defendant, Corey Pujols, who was an employee.
Investigators say the victim called Pujols a racial slur and that Pujols challenged the man to repeat the slur.
The victim repeated the slur and that’s when Pujols punched the victim on the jaw. This knocked the man out and then he fell to the floor with his head hitting the floor. Tampa Fire Rescue was contacted and the victim was transported to a local hospital.
The victim passed away at the hospital on Friday May 7th.
