TAMPA, Fla. – After a collision that shut down I-275 for several hours on Sunday night and early Monday morning, a man from Dunedin has been taken into custody.
Just before 10:30 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 19-year-old man from Wesley Chapel was standing outside his disabled car, which was parked alongside the inside shoulder of I-275 just north of I-4.
Meanwhile, police say that Dane Anthony Jones, 23, lost control of his Infiniti sedan on the wet road, spun onto the shoulder, and crashed into the Wesley Chapel and his Can-Am Slingshot.

Following the collision, troopers reported that Jones crossed the barrier wall and entered the I-275 southbound lanes.
With severe injuries, the Wesley Chapel man was transported to a nearby hospital.
FHP claims that after a serious crash involving a suspended license, driving with a suspended license, and DUI serious injury, Jones was taken into custody by troopers.
The collision blocked I-275’s northbound lanes until just before four in the morning. Before 3:30 a.m., the southbound lanes were once again open.
