Dundee Man’s “Temper Tantrums” Land Him In More Trouble With The Law In Polk County

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Dundee man with an outstanding warrant ended up facing additional charges after allegedly resisting arrest and injuring a Polk County Sheriff’s deputy.

39-year-old Thomas Criswell was arrested Wednesday night, January 15th, at a residence on Scenic Highway near Race Road in Dundee.

Deputies arrived at the residence to apprehend Criswell on a felony warrant out of Charlotte County. While initially reluctant to comply with the arrest, Criswell became increasingly agitated after being handcuffed.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Criswell repeatedly attempted to pull away from the deputy and became verbally abusive.

His unruly behavior continued even after being placed in a holding cell, where he kicked the door, striking the deputy’s hand and causing an injury.

In addition to the arrest on the outstanding warrant, Criswell was charged with:

  • Resisting an officer without violence
  • Resisting an officer with violence
  • Battery on a law enforcement officer
